Altai Maral in Russian Altai Mountains

Altai Maral (or Altai Wapiti) is a race (or ecotype) of Wapiti (Cervus canadensis canadensis) that occurs in the Altai Mountains and Tian Shan Mountains of Central Asia.

Russian Altai is situated in the very centre of Asia at the junction of South Siberian taiga, steppes of Kazakhstan and semi-deserts of Mongolia. The Altai Republic is the territory of highlands with a very picturesque landscape, a kind of «Russian Tibet» in the centre of Eurasia at the junction of several states, natural zones and cultural worlds. Altai Wapiti hunting here can be nicely combined with Altai Ibex, Siberian Roe deer and eventual Wolf.

Hunting season

Bugle hunts run from September 20 to October 15.

Climate

During daylight hours temperature in September from 50 to 59 ^oF (10 to 15 ^oC) and during nighttime from 23 to 32 ^oF (0 to – 5 ^oC). Normally, weather is favorable during all hunting season.
