Siberian Roe Deer
West Siberia – Kurgan, Chelyabinsk – is considered the best area for hunting Siberian Roebuck (capreolus capreolus pygargus), one of the biggest subspecies of Roebucks.
Range of Siberian Roebuck is from Southern Ural down to the Far East region of Ussuri. For international hunters it will be subscribed at SCI-Record book as „Siberian Roe Deer“. Except of some few trophies from Mongolia all the SCI Top-10 trophies are from our area in Kurgan!
Compare to European Roebuck are Siberian Roe deer on body and trophy size much bigger. Bodies are up to 100 cm tall, with total length up to 150 cm and weight 40 – 50 kg
Siberian Roe Deer have six tine horns (same as his European relative) with thick bases and wide spread. At the high class trophies it can be 40 – 45 cm tall. It can often happen that you shoot bucks with 8 or 10 tines on trophy.
The rutting season is between late August and late September.
Hunting areas are vast enough to allow for the use of 4x4 vehicles for spotting, followed by a stalk.
The weather can exert direct influence on hunting success. It is common that some years have very dry spring and summer times. As the result will be less vegetation in the fields and it increase the success of the hunt. Opposite if it was rainy summer can entail higher vegetation and reduce amount of game you will see on the hunt.
