Capercallie and Blackcock in Tver and Kirov

This traditional Russian hunt is conducted in the forests of the European part of Russia during the rutting season. Normally, Capercailzies (Tetrao urogallus) are found in hidden marshy areas. Blackcock(Lyrurus tetrix), on the contrary, choose open places in the fields.

During this exciting spring hunt you will learn the old kind of Russian Hunting and enjoy beautiful nature of Russian forest waking up from the winter sleep. Geese, Ducks and Woodcocks can be added to the basic package.

Warm and waterproof clothes and high rubber boots are needed for this hunt.

Area

Kirov, Vologda, Moscow region

Route

Upon arrival in Moscow you will be met by us and be helped trough the customs with the guns. Then we will bring you to one of the 7 Moscow’s railway stations and departure you to overnight train to Kirov or Vologda. Next day in the morning you will be taken at the end station by our crew and go about 2-3 hours by vehicle to the hunting camp.

Group size

2 – 4 hunters, up to 20 hunters in one time

Accommodation

from a simple hunting house based on double and three-person occupancy to a nice hunting lodge with single occupancy.

Accommodation at private hotels is possible for additional € 250,- per person.

Hunt

You will hunt capercaillie on their matting places in the forest. Each hunter is accompanied by a personal guide, who will teach you to hear the song of capercaillie and how to move on during this song. He will move with you and place you at a shooting range. For blackcock you will hunt from shelter that be made in advance on the mating fields very close were the blackcock lek. Late in the evening you can enjoy the hunt for woodcock.
